Daniel Botkin

Hi, I’m Daniel Botkin.

I’m a CPA in the Twin Cities who works in audit and tax, and I like tinkering with Claude Code on the side. The election map below is my latest project.

About me

I’ve spent more than ten years in accounting and earned my Minnesota CPA license in 2025. Right now I’m an audit senior, which means I plan engagements, watch the budgets and review the work of our associates and interns. Before that I handled tax at a fleet management company and a travel technology company, reconciling sales tax accounts and filing refund claims.

Lately I’ve been using Claude Code to build projects I’d never have found the time to code by hand. This site is one, and the election map is the big one: it tracks results on election night alongside prediction-market prices and polling averages. It scratches the same itch as accounting for me, getting the numbers to tie out and laying them out so people can follow along.

Prices are in cents for a contract that pays $1 if that party wins, so 60¢ means traders put the odds near 60%. Races are ranked by how close the Democratic and Republican prices are, and races with little trading are left out. Independent and other candidates aren’t shown. Market prices come from Polymarket. They are traders’ opinions, not forecasts or advice, and they can lag or move quickly. Click a race to zoom the map to its state.

Each average uses the most recent poll from every pollster over the last 30 days, counting each poll equally. Polls sponsored by a party or campaign are left out, and undecided voters aren’t reassigned, so the two numbers usually add up to less than 100. A race with one poll is noisy, so check the poll count. Many House districts have no public polls, so this list can include fewer than 10. Polls are not forecasts. Results: civicAPI. They are unofficial until certified, and race calls can change. Boundaries: U.S. Census Bureau, 120th Congress (October 2026), simplified for the web and trimmed to the coastline.
